Reports to: Director of Marketing
Purpose: The job holder will oversee the video production unit and create content tailored for online/digital audiences. The job holder should be passionate and knowledgeable about consumer technology, creatively minded and capable of coming up with new ideas and contributing to the creative process, while at the same time being comfortable with the technical aspects of multi-media production for online environments. Also, be able to work independently and adhere to strict deadlines and production quotas. He/she will be comfortable writing and presenting scripts, as well as filming and editing. The job will require video recording a wide variety of activities including, but not limited to, action video profiles both on and off-campus, short documentaries, features, lectures, classroom seminars, promotional/marketing material and a wide array of events. He/she must have experience in all aspects of video production, editing in Final Cut Pro (or other video editing programs), as well as creating stings, intro-sequences and other motion graphics using After Effects (or other graphics program). The job holder is expected to be able to work to brief and follow style guidelines for some projects and to bring their own style and creativity to others. And expected to work with their team/unit and oversee their work as according to policy, best practices and produce high-quality projects.
Principal Accountabilities:Responsible for independently producing video features and promotional, marketing videos; from the content creation phase to shooting, editing and delivering the final video Responsible for managing the video production staff and schedule for shooting live events, interviews, video features and editing resulting footage Responsible for managing the entire process from conception to pre-production to the shoot itself (on or off-campus) and all post-production Responsible for creating content, brainstorming and coming up with new ideas for videos that are in line with the university’s strategy and pillars Train, develop and guide staff on shooting and editing techniques Coordinate with the marketing team to identify potential videos to support marketing campaigns, digital or social, and further communicate AUC core messages and brand Coordinate with faculty, staff or students to organize shoots Understand and adapt to the demands of a deadline-based editorial team, be able to follow a brief and also establish how to get the best performances out of different presenters Effectively brief, manage and follow up with external agencies and suppliers when necessary Staying ahead of the field in terms of knowledge of interactive video and audio standards, and related field trends and necessities Ability to edit in tight turnaround time Oversee the process of acquiring video contributed by other members of the AUC community Set branding and identity guidelines for different types of videos to be produced Ability to repurpose and adjust/edit content to ensure clear marketing messages are achieved in a creative professional manner to be used and published on different channels including social media, web, newsletter, and media usages Manages the YouTube channel, in a way that ensures it is being an effective tool for promoting AUC activities and promotional videos, as well as pushing outs videos through other mediums Perform other duties as requested from the direct supervisor
Minimum Education Requirement:BA required preferably mass communications, film production, marketing or related field
Experience:Minimum of six years of work experience in video production
Skills:Experience across the entire video production process; pre-production preparations, organizing shoots, shooting and editing footage Experience in scriptwriting and storyboarding Professional knowledge and expertise with required cameras, lighting, sound equipment and editing software needed for a complete production Demonstrable experience of producing focused factual features and reviews Strong journalistic writing skills and executing marketing campaign objectives Experience of working in studios and on-location Experience with and knowledge of video editing software (Final Cut Studio Pro, Adobe After Effects, iMovie and Adobe Creative Suite), media codecs, streaming technology, encoding software, and motion graphics Understanding of the principals involved in recording good audio in different conditions A passion for digging for new stories and a willingness to match that passion with an intelligent, consistent and fully committed hands-on approach to the task at hand
